January 2010 Happy New Year and Decade! Special New Years Day class

We shall not cease from exploration, and the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time.  T.S.Elliot- Four Quartets

Dear Sweet Yoga Kula,
We welcome home those of you who have traveled over this holiday season. Tonight on the eve of the New Year, a Blue Moon whispers to us its reminder that we are again granted an opportunity to receive the gifts of beauty in this life.  As the second full moon this month, and auspiciously arriving at the culmination of 2009, she asks us to look again, this time with different glasses, revealing a new perception of the  blessing of wonder and awe.
As we stand on this threshold, poised in the space between endings and beginnings…we pause to contemplate all that we have been up until now, all that has made us who we are in this world… At the end of the first decade of this millenium, and embarking on the next, we can mark with deep honoring every single experience that has led us to here, Now- the “Present,”  gifted moment- always inviting us to rise to the occasion of our lives.   We are challenged to accept and love all parts of ourselves, to review with courage and honesty  our journeys of Becoming.   The “mistakes,” the triumphs and achievements, the losses or “missed” oportunities, the sharing of meaningful communion with eachother, friends, foes, family, beloveds, Nature, Community, work… The “shadow” is simply the unlived aspects of ourselves.  Can we invite it into the light?  May we call and invoke all parts of who-we-are with unconditional love and dedication to this Path we call “Yoga”, this path we call “Life”.  We send out a call for all of us to join in celebrating and continuing to build a new earth, to grow in consiousness based on courage and authenticity.
Susie writes from her family’s home:  “I soften my gaze as I watch the sun set out in the Arizona desert , the ambiance of light and color change from vibrant reds to deep purples and iridescent blues using the rustic mountains as its picture screen to play out their final scene as the night drinks in the last of the light from 2009. The Clouds part to unveil the coming full moon.  I feel a deep sense of bowing from within my heart. What an honor it is to experience another one of life’s moments at its best! It has been a year since Anna and I opened Mt Lotus, as we look back with so much gratitude in our hearts for all of you that have supported us on this journey, Thank you!

Who knows what the new year will bring, may we soften our gaze to remember that each moment, each breath is asking us to step deeper into our hearts. Just as the clouds unveil the full moon so can the experiences of life if we allow them to unveil the layers of our hearts. We wish you peace, love and happiness. Happy New Year!”

Love and Light,

Susie and Anna

A Note form Alice:
Winter greetings to All.
The practice continues and I invite you to come and take a closer look at yourself. As I rededicate myself to my yoga and meditation practice, every time I come to a class or practice at home, I see that the most radical act a human being can do is to learn to love and accept themselves just as they are.  Who am I? What are my core values? Am I truly happy? That’s what we take a looksee for. Through mindfulness, non-attachment, and letting go we begin to see ourselves, people, relationship, the weather, the suffering of individuals, the environment, politics, war for what it is. Not what our mind thinks it is. Stilling the senses, including the mind, allows a gate to open. All is changing (anicca). It is not concrete. When we accept this natural Truth the realm of possibility is wide and varied. The practice of loving-kindness or metta allows us to recondition the brain towards compassion for ourselves and for all beings. This is the stuff Martin Luther King Jr. and Ghandi based their revolutions on. It is not a path every individual will take up but it is a path that is available to all beings. I welcome you to take a walk while being still. All are welcome. With metta, Alice
Yin practice will concentrate on winter forms.
